- Wangari Maathai was a Kenyan environmental and women's rights activist. She was the first female to earn a doctorate in East and Central Africa. Maathai won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004 and founded the Greenbelt Movement. She strived for poverty reduction and environmental conservation through tree-planting. How can I get involved?
- Celebrate Wangari Maathai and get excited, create art, an interpretive dance, a poem, a picture, write a song, plant a tree, etc.
